If you've ever wished you could carry the gripping power of full-size Knipex pliers without lugging around a heavy tool bag, the Knipex mini pliers set is exactly what you need. These compact 2-piece kits pair a Knipex Cobra with a pliers wrench inside a slim belt tool pouch, delivering pro-grade performance in tools that fit in your palm.

Quick Overview: What the Knipex Mini Pliers Sets Are

The Knipex mini pliers sets , headlined by the 00 20 72 V01 , are purpose-built kits that combine two precision tools and a belt pouch into a single carry-ready package.

Each set includes a Cobra pliers and a pliers wrench, both forged from chrome-vanadium steel in Germany. Users rate the Knipex mini pliers set 5 out of 5 stars, and it's easy to see why: these 4-inch to 6-inch tools handle fastening tasks that would normally require a full wrench roll.

Several variants exist to match different jobs and carry preferences:

V01 – Cobra 125 mm + Pliers Wrench 150 mm (the classic combo)
V02 – Cobra 150 mm + High Leverage Diagonal Cutter 160 mm
V04 XS – Cobra XS 100 mm + Pliers Wrench XS 100 mm (ultra-compact)
V06 – Needle-nose combination + Cobra 150 mm

Who it's for: electricians, HVAC techs, plumbers, automotive mechanics, facility maintenance crews, and EDC enthusiasts who want Knipex pliers on their belt at all times.

What's in the Box: Tools Included in the Knipex Mini Sets

Most Knipex mini pliers sets share the same core tools but differ in size and count. Here's what each variant delivers, along with the information you need to compare.

Standard 2-piece set (V01):

1× Pliers Wrench (No. 86 03 150), 150 mm / 6 inches - smooth parallel jaws, 3/4-inch gripping capacity
1× Water pump pliers Cobra (No. 87 01 125), 125 mm / 5 inches - Cobra pliers with a 1-inch gripping capacity

Mini Pliers Set XS (V04):

1× Cobra XS, 100 mm / 4 inches - the Cobra XS grips up to 1 inch with one-handed adjustment, designed for gripping irregular shapes
1× Pliers Wrench XS, 4 inches long and fully functional - the smallest pliers wrench Knipex makes, with a 3/4-inch gripping capacity

Variants with a third tool or alternate pairing (V02 / V06):

The set includes a high-leverage diagonal cutter and Cobra pliers (V02 configuration), adding wire and cable-cutting capability
V06 swaps in a needle-nose combination pliers for reach into tight openings

Safety features include pinch guards to prevent injuries during use across all modern Knipex mini models. Every single tool is a genuine Knipex product made in Germany — not a generic mini copy of any kind.

The Belt Tool Pouch & Portability

The pouch is what transforms a mini pliers set from loose pocket tools into a true everyday carry kit. Users appreciate the durable polyester pouch for easy carrying, and the construction backs that up.

The pouch is made from durable polyester fabric with reinforced stitching at stress points
A hook-and-loop fastener (Velcro-style) cover flap keeps tools secure during movement
A sewn-in belt loop fits standard work belts, so the pouch rides snug against your hip
Compact dimensions: roughly 75 mm wide × 180 mm high × 55 mm deep
Total weight with tools is approximately 420 g — light enough for all-day carry

The belt pouch is slim enough for service techs and plumbers who climb ladders or squeeze into plant rooms. For EDC users, it's a strong alternative to a bulky multi-tool — you get two real Knipex mini pliers instead of a single tool with compromises. Quick one-handed access means you can view your work, grab what you need, and get back to the task without fumbling through a bag.

Knipex Cobra vs Pliers Wrench: Why This Combo Works

The heart of every Knipex mini set is the pairing of a Knipex Cobra and a Knipex pliers wrench. Together, they create a link between rough mechanical grip and precision fastener work.

Knipex Cobra / Cobra XS:

The Cobra water pump pliers feature self-locking teeth for secure gripping; the harder you squeeze, the tighter they bite
Push-button quick adjustment across multiple jaw positions, even in tight spaces
High-frequency hardened teeth provide extreme wear resistance (approximately 61 HRC)
Slim head profile reaches behind panels, under sinks, and into engine bays
Cobra XS pliers are designed for gripping irregular shapes like pipes, hose barbs, and rounded fasteners

Pliers Wrench:

The pliers wrench features smooth jaws to grip nuts and bolts without marring surfaces and is ideal for chrome fittings, brass valves, and anodized parts
Pliers wrench models offer zero backplay for surface protection, meaning the jaws stay parallel under load
Functions like a small adjustable wrench but with better leverage and no jaw slop

This is why pros choose a mini set instead of carrying multiple full-size wrenches: the Cobra handles rough work on pipes and irregular shapes, while the wrench handles precise work on hex nuts, valves, and delicate fittings. Two tools, nearly every fastening scenario covered.

Real-World Uses & Who the Mini Sets Are For

The Knipex mini pliers sets are effective in tight spaces and confined areas where full-size tools simply won't fit. They're recommended for EDC and quick fixes, but they pull serious weight on professional job sites too.

Who carries them:

Electricians and maintenance techs running service calls with a compact kit for panels and enclosures
Plumbers and HVAC installers tackling tight-space pipe work and compression fittings
Automotive and motorcycle mechanics reaching under dashboards or into engine bays
EDC and hobby users who share a preference for real tools over multi-tool compromises

Concrete use cases:

Adjusting a 3/4-inch brass compression nut using the Pliers Wrench XS without marring the finish
Holding a 1-inch copper pipe with Cobra XS while soldering or tightening fittings
Grabbing stripped or rounded fasteners where standard wrenches fail, the tools in Knipex mini pliers sets can reach fasteners in cramped spaces
Using the diagonal cutter version (V02) to snip cable ties, copper wire, or small nails on site

These tools are not toys. They use the same chrome-vanadium construction, hardened gripping surfaces, and precision machining as their larger Knipex counterparts. Comments from customers consistently confirm that the mini versions hold up under daily professional use.

Buying Tips: Choosing the Right Knipex Mini Pliers Set

Matching the right variant to your daily work is the difference between a tool you carry every day and one that sits in a drawer. Here's a simple decision guide:

XS set (00 20 72 V04): Best for ultra-compact EDC and occasional light trade work. If pocket or small belt carry is critical, this is your pick. The trade-off is reduced leverage and jaw capacity, but both tools remain fully functional.
Standard 150 mm / 125 mm set (00 20 72 V01): The best general-purpose choice. Covers the widest range of tasks for technicians and trades who work on everything from electrical panels to plumbing fittings.
Two-piece sets with cutter (00 20 72 V02 or V06): Ideal if you also need cutting capability or reach. The V02 adds a high-leverage diagonal cutter; the V06 swaps in needle-nose for tighter access.

Key decision factors:

Hand size - smaller hands may love XS; larger hands should buy the 150 mm version
Fastener type - polished fittings favor the pliers wrench; rough mechanical work favors Cobra
Carry style - belt tool pouch for trades, pocket pouch for EDC
Budget - prices range from about $93 to $164 depending on retailer and variant, so shop around and check stock before you email a seller or hit checkout

All these sets are authentic Knipex pliers made in Germany. Buying from reputable Amazon sellers or authorized dealers helps you avoid counterfeits, a real concern with premium German hand tools.

Compared to carrying a full wrench roll, a Knipex mini set on a belt pouch is a significant weight and space saver while still delivering pro performance. Match the variant to your daily tasks, add it to your cart, and you'll wonder how you worked without it.
